    I. Parent Centers outlined characteristics of complex cases. Here are their thoughts, what would you add or further detail:

    – Parents seem hopeless/desperate convey a sense of loss;
    – Parents are angry and emotional;
    – Mental health issues of the parent and/or child
    – Staff feel that the parent is being manipulative
    – Parents lack trust and/or are fearful
    – Families have experienced disaster and/or trauma
    – Family has need across a number of systems
    – There are language and/or cultural barriers
    – Child’s behaviors have resulted in inappropriate disciplinary actions, use of seclusion or restraint, placements in alternate settings
    – Students and families are being penalized for truancy
    – Families/parents are undocumented
    – Parents have medical needs and/or disabilities

    Also, I should say that I have been a member of NJ’s Committee of Practitioners for 5-6 years. And, we have not always been consulted about changes to the state’s plan. When our state applied for an ESEA waiver, we were asked to give feedback on some general issues/topics, but the application submitted was not reviewed by the Committee prior to submission. This go round, “I’m On it!”

    The APR/SPP review process is moving along. Notice has been sent to states that the APR/SPP clarification period has begun. States can access the new Grads360 system to find out the questions/comments that they need to address and submit their responses/further documentation.

    Has your state selected its SIMRs (state-indentified measureable results) for Part B? For Part C?

    TA Directors can designate the individuals on their team who can be group administrators. It looks like you already have grp admin capabilities and can start groups.
