June 28, 2018 : : Status of ESSA State Plans and Waivers to Exceed 1% Cap on Alternate Assessments
Four states are still awaiting US ED approval of their ESSA state plans: CA, FL, OK, UT.Waivers of 1% Cap:
Waivers have been approved for the following states (20): AR, DE, GA, ID, LA, KY, MA, MI, MO, MS, NC, ND, NE, OH, OK, SD, TN, TX, WV, WIWaivers have been partially approved for the following states (3): AZ, HI, IN (approved for ELA/Math, denied for Science assessment)
Waivers have been denied for the following states (2): ME and PA (due to failure to test at least 95% of students with disabilities)
Waiver requests submitted, pending ED action: (1) NJ
Waiver request submission anticipated: (1) AL
States exceeding cap but not submitting waiver request due to failure to meet test participation requirement: OR and UT
