Educating Students with Disabilities in Juvenile Justice Systems 5 years, 4 months ago
I understand our courts can commit youth 13 to 21 year olds to the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice. But today I am learning we have county level detention center that are not covered by JJ and from what I’m understanding is that we could have kids in that system as well. Should that be happening? Does anyone know why this might happen? I haven’t reached out locally yet. I will tomorrow, I just wanted to check in with everyone and see if anyone has had this type of experience? Also I included an article I’ll add to our other sheet as well.
Why are we criminalizing behavior of children with disabilities?
