Description: In this webinar, staff from the U.S. Department of Education will provide a general overview of the requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) in terms of student privacy. This webinar will address IDEA and FERPA basics, explore requirements for the protection of student records, address who may and may not access student records, when those records may be shared, and discuss the impacts for parent centers.
Who Should Attend: Parent center directors; parent center staff who are providing training and/or individual assistance for families; parent center staff who are working with parent organizations, schools and/or districts to ensure that student privacy rights are enforced.
