(2018, August) | Useful to Parent Centers for sharing with families, early childhood programs, and professionals involved in implementing the Pyramid Model.

This 3-page resource from the National Center for Pyramid Model Innovations (NCPMI) discusses the value of including a family member on the leadership team of early childhood programs implementing the Pyramid Model for Supporting Social Emotional Competence in Infants and Young Children (Pyramid Model). The Pyramid Model is designed to promote the social, emotional, and behavioral outcomes of young children birth to five, which in turn helps to reduce the use of inappropriate discipline practices.

Including family members on the leadership team implementing the Model brings the unique perspectives of the family and community to discussions about implementation steps and helps guide decisions related to family engagement and family support strategies. This easy-to-read, attractive resource provides the leadership team with:

  • information on how family membership will strengthen the leadership team,
  • guidance for recruiting a family member, and
  • considerations for supporting the family member as a participating team member.
