(2017, May) | Useful to: Parent Centers, policy makers, and the public seeking to monitor educational effectiveness and progress, especially with respect to early childhood education.

By mandate of the U.S. Congress, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) publishes and annual report intended to detail and inform policy makers and the public about the progress of education in the United States.

Using data gathered by NCES and other sources, The Condition of Education 2017 summarizes important topics and trends in U.S. education categorically through 50 indicators. These range from prekindergarten to postsecondary education throughout the nation, as well as labor force outcomes and international comparisons.

The Condition of Education 2017 report also includes data specifically relating to early childhood education, gathered by the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study (ECLS).  These data can be found at: https://nces.ed.gov/ecls/
